The Annual Conference begins Monday, April 24, 2017 with worship at 8 a.m., followed by the first conference session at 9 a.m.  The conference continues through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, followed by dinner. Participants are welcome to check out on Thursday morning.

Safeguarding Children: What Motivates Us? – Elisabeth Berger
Elisabeth Berger, Director of Training, Crossworld.
Elisabeth was born to German missionary parents in Brazil, and lived there her entire childhood. She attended and graduated from Amazon Valley Academy in Belem, Brazil, spending 6 of those years in the school's boarding program. Elisabeth studied to be a Religious Education teacher in Germany, has a Master’s Degree in New Testament Hermeneutics, and did doctoral studies in Old Testament Hermeneutics at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, USA. Elisabeth's MK experience has been a determining factor in her passion for providing a safe and healthy environment for the children within her organization, and those born into any kind of ministry focused setting. Elisabeth is a member of Crossworld's Child Safety Team, and a Board member of CSPN.

An Analysis of Child to Child Case – Jason Hazell
Jason Hazell, Child Safety Coordinator, SIM International
. Jason is an Australian missionary.  He has worked in Child Protection in Australia and has served in ministry in West Africa.  He is currently the Child Safety Coordinator for SIM International as well as a Board member of CSPN.

Forgiveness is a Journey – Ruth Ann Batstone
Ruth Ann Batstone
has been a counselor in private practice for more than twenty years.  She disciples and mentors women through the Sonship Course at Serge (formerly World Harvest Mission).  She also leads and teaches Bible studies, retreats and has written a book about forgiveness, Moving On:  Beyond Forgive and Forget, published by New Growth Press. Ruth Ann serves on the staff of Parakaleo, an organization that supports the wives of church planters through training and mentoring programs.  Coming alongside these women who are serving God in complicated ways and spaces is one of Ruth Ann’s favorite passions and a great privilege. Ruth Ann and her husband, Stu, are involved in teaching and training in gospel renewal around the world with Serge.  They have been privileged to minister together in thirteen countries. Stu and Ruth Ann have been married fifty-one years and have four married children. Ruth Ann has an MS in Counseling Psychology.

Important Reminders Regarding the Venue

  1. ILC is a smoke-free facility.
  2. No pets allowed on property.

Room & Board

The cost per person per night is $65 for room and board. For folks who live in the area and are attending the conference, a flat rate of $100 will be charged for meals for the whole conference.

Rooms

The ILC rooms are private and equipped with full baths, towels, and bedding with 2 single beds per room. Lodging is available Monday or Tuesday night through Thursday or Friday night, with morning check outs.

Meals

All meals are cafeteria style, with a wide variety of healthy, delicious food options.

For those arriving on Sunday, April 23, depending on your arrival time, the cafeteria may be closed. Lunch is from 11:00-1:00 p.m. and dinner is from 5:00-6:00 p.m.

Name badges must be worn at all times on the lLC campus. They will be provided upon arrival.

Photography

No photographs may be taken of IMB personnel going through orientation without their prior permission.

The email address you provided during registration will be your user name. Further directions will be made available upon your arrival at the ILC.


Travel Information

General

The ILC is approximately 32 miles NW of Richmond International Airport [RIC]. On good traffic days, it takes approximately 45 minutes to/from airport. Please factor this in when purchasing airline tickets.

You will be responsible for setting up your own transportation from the airport to the conference site. Below is listed information for Taxis and Car Rentals. To view other prearranged services please go to the Richmond airport site.

Taxi
Like most large cities, Richmond offers reliable and affordable taxi service. You can find taxis at the airport in the center section of the lower level curbside, adjacent to the North and South parking garages (follow the Ground Transportation signs). Service runs from first flight departure to last flight arrival. Each listed operator offers wheelchair-accessible vehicles. All of the taxis below can be reserved ahead of time or taken at the time of arrival. All taxi providers below have a rate of $2.50 per mile. As you approach the ILC, you will go through a security check point. Please inform the security guard that you are arriving for the “Child Safety Conference”. He/she will then direct you on where to go.

Early Registration – Through December 31st, 2016 US $110
Standard Registration – After January 1 to April 5th, 2017 US $140
Room & Board per person per night US $65*
“Commuter” meals for the week US $100
Non CSPN Member added fee US $100

 

Please note that the registration slot is only held when payment is received.  Payment is expected within two weeks of registration or registration may be cancelled. The cancellation fee is $100. Registration can be transferred to another individual for a fee of $50.

*Single Rooms
Due to limited housing single rooms will only be available to individuals who have a medical need or other special need requiring a single room as follows:

  1. Medical reason
  2. Sleep apnea machine
  3. Immediately prior overseas travel causing jet lag sleep issues
  4. Other, please explain fully
